“What is a Builder’s Lien?”

A Builders’ lien is a risk management tool you can use to protect your financial interests on real property on which you have provided labour or materials to. A Builders’ Lien is typically used if you are having difficulty receiving payment. Liens must be filed within a specific time period.

Generally liens are filed in the event of non-payment. When a lien is registered it is filed against your customer and attaches to the land title of the property you worked on.
